The 60’s

(1969) St. Vincent DePaul of Pontiac opened a clothing chest and food pantry to assist an increasing number of people in need of food & clothing


The 70’s

(1972) Lighthouse Incorporates

(1976) First Thanksgiving Basket Program


The 80’s

(1982) Lighthouse helps establish the first soup kitchen in Pontiac; later establishes Food Bank of Oakland County

(1987) Housing & Homelessness prevention program begins thanks to Skillman Foundation. First training and empowerment classes begin


The 90’s

(1990) Lighthouse Emergency Services Clarkston opens

(1990) Lighthouse volunteers receive 376th Point of Light Award from President George H. W. Bush

(1991) Lighthouse PATH program opens and begins accepting homeless women with children

(1992) Lighthouse Community Development neighborhood revitalization and empowerment programs begin

(1993) Lighthouse Community Development receives $200,000 in funding to purchase and rehabilitate homes for resale to low income families

(1997) Lighthouse celebrates 25th anniversary 

(1997) Lighthouse of Oakland County named Crain’s Detroit Business Best Nonprofit for 1997


The Millennium

(2001) Lighthouse begins operations from the Robert H. & Mary G. Flint Campus of Caring

(2002) Lighthouse Clarkston office moves to their new location which allows them to serve more clients

(2005) the Lighthouse PATH Young Women program begins and serves homeless pregnant and parenting young women

(2007) Supportive Housing for the Chronically Homeless program begins

(2008) American House joins Lighthouse Senior Services Program

(2009) Expanded Lighthouse Community Development services to Macomb and Wayne Counties

(2009) Lighthouse is selected to partner with NeighborWorks America

(2012) Lighthouse celebrates 40th anniversary & launches "Laying the Foundation for the Next 40 Years" Campaign

(2016) Lighthouse PATH celebrates 25th anniversary of serving homeless women and children.
