Volunteer groups come to Lighthouse to do a number of projects in our facility and within the surrounding communinty. Becoming involved encourages team building among members while helping in so many different areas. Participants lend a hand with painting client apartments who live in our transitional housing units, assist seniors with home improvements and yard clean-up and sort and stock food from our large food drives. These are just some of the many opportunities available for groups large or small. Join us today and see how your office, service group or circle of family or friends can become involved and help make a difference in our community.
Five different volunteer groups from General Motors came and did so much for Lighthouse! Working in the pantry sorting and stocking shelves, packing bags for clients and interviewing clients to assess their needs was their focus in emergency services. Over at our PATH facility volunteers helped refurbish apartments and homes making them "move in" ready for familes. Thanks for everything GM.
Those Chrylser volunteers know how to make an entrance at Lightouse....by pulling up in a brand new viper! They got right to work by cleaning up the PATH playground area, tending to the garden and refurbishing apartments and homes for new residents. Roll in any time Chrylser, we loved having you here.
MODEL Teams of Ford volunteers work on projects that provide children and their families with a service, product, or opportunity that will improve living conditions or offer new opportunities for growth and development. Children & Families Accelerated Action Day projects included refurbishing and painting at Lighthouse transitional housing facilities. During each Accelerated Action Day week, a Drive to make a Difference is scheduled. Diapers and formula were collected at 15 Ford Motor Company office sites in S.E. Michigan. Lighthouse PATH was one of the agencies that received donations this year.
Volunteers from the Chrysler Human Resources department were on site to help with outdoor cleanup at Lighthouse's transitional housing units. The weather was beautiful and made the perfect day for the outdoor project. They made the grounds safe for children to play and more curb appealing for the community. Their hard work shows!
Volunteers from Ford Motor Company rolled up their sleeves and came prepared for a day of sorting hundreds of cans and boxes of food collected during the Thanksgiving program. Items were sorted, boxed and organized in our pantry storage that will be given out during the next few months to those in need. They transformed what seemed to be an endless stack of food into an well organized food stock system.
Folks from Wellman Engineering volunteered their time at Lighthouse PATH, the tranisitional apartment unit for women and their children, cleaning up the garden, playground and outside area. They did an incredible job clearing brush and sprucing up the grounds. A job very well done.
Students and faculty from Notre Dame Prep held a Stuff-a-Bus fundraiser for Lighthouse and collected back to school supplies. They arrived on site and assisted Lighthouse staff and volunteers with unloading the bus. Lighthouse thanks Notre Dame for their outstanding effort in helping provide local area children with school supplies.
